Perloffian Responses

So, what does it mean that people think you’re smart. So what does it mean that we have downgraded literary criticism so much that you’re close to being canonized? Why does Perloff’s idiocy make me so mad? Aaaargh. It’s a good thing I will never get to teach others or I would fail papers on account of approvingly citing Perloff alone. She should not be allowed to talk about poetry. No, wait, people should not listen to her. “Alfred Corn and Sandy McClatchy write that kind of poetry themselves”? Really, Ms. Perloff? Really?

And how she’s worshiped by such a large part of contemporary academics…she doesn’t know the first thing about poetry (McClatchy? Really?), but she writes book after book about it. She also constantly contradicts herself. “21st Century Modernism” is a bit like “Lost”. Both appear to be written by someone with short/long-term memory defects.

Also, is she wearing a whig?

What disturbs me is that Marjorie Perloff obtained tenure in a known galaxy.

The poem wasn’t very good. The sky has yet to fall in, Marjorie. You might leave this alone and do some thinking, oh but wait a minute, you are doing..hmm
